ACTION ALERT: Your Voice Needed to Save National Service

We’ve asked you to take a lot of action already this year, but we’re facing unprecedented threats: the potential elimination of national service, and huge funding cuts to public lands agencies and other important programs. Just this week the Trump Administration requested that Congress nearly eliminate the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and AmeriCorps in the rest of this fiscal year (FY17), and of course, full elimination in 2018 (FY18).

Members of Congress are currently looking for other Members to join their support letters to the Appropriations Committee to let them know the importance of national service and workforce funding. This is a key way to show support in Congress for these programs.

Please ask your Members of Congress to join these Letters in support of:

  1. Corporation for National and Community Service
  2. Workforce Development, Education, and Training Programs (WIOA)
  3. YouthBuild (DOL)

Corporation for National and Community Service
Deadline 3/31

As you may have heard, President Trump’s FY18 budget has proposed the elimination of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and AmeriCorps.  Last week, Voices for National Service issued a press release about the cut and the impact it will have on communities nationwide. Voices is seeking support in circulating a Dear Colleague letter, spearheaded by Representatives David Price of NC and Doris Matsui of CA – the co-chairs of the National Service Caucus.
